The Knife retuned after an 8 year hiatus with the norm-challenging project ‘Shaking the habitual”. The idea was to question everything about a live performance situation. The relationship between the audience and the performers and what was expected of either and how could that be challenged.

Tour Manifesto

“We know of the performative parts of power (Hegemony! Hi!), the on-going upholdance of everything through the performance of everyone. The habitual dance of the ordinary, the narratives of the normal. We know how the norm functions. But this is not every day. We have put on our glitter, we are ready to sparkle. This is special, if we were birds, (maybe we are) our feathers would shine (they do). We are building a place, a scene, a moment. But the blocks aren’t set, the pieces move. We slipper and slide around it, under it, above. Shaking our habitat.”

Three songs contained visuals - all in their own way challenging the ‘live performance’ norm.
In one extreme the stage was left to a single projector as the only perfomer.
Visuals included a gilded frame for ‘Got 2 let U’ and ending with what a fan described as a “rainbow-spectrum high-density all-sight-covering layer-adding laser-beam that has been plenty-of-aesthetic” for ‘Silent Shout’
