Beata, the main character is a reasonably successful self-employed person. She works hard and raises a decent salary every month. She has never experienced financial troubles. Never abused. Never had any mental health issues or lived beyond her means.

But when she becomes ill, her safe everyday life is quickly overturned. She ends up in a nightmare-like downhill run down society's treacherously steep precipice, chased by a growing mountain of debt, incomprehensible doctors and unconditional social workers.

What do you do when your body signs off, your company crashes and you are left alone without food in the fridge and money in your pocket?

It is based on the August-nominated novel of the same name, written by Charlotta von Zweigbergk

Fattigfällan (The poverty trap) is a striking story and an eerily current depiction of a country where increasingly cooler political winds are blowing and both sick leave and unemployment figures have soared in the past year.
