When old tech meets new possibilities.

Above all species ( 2015 ) is a film about 4 unfortnate people who drift away on a floe where only one return and the others perish. Rather than shoot on location filmmakers Jens Klevje & Fabian Svensson went for a 21st century version of front projection for all backgrounds in the film.

All backgrounds were projected onto a huge
( 28x5m ) screen in the studio. Classic front projection technology made available in real time due to modern projectors and realtime playback software.

This allowed for realtime adjustment of everything from height of horizon to layering different coast lines, waters, skies and adjusting everything from speed to white balance in every individual shot.
